Lankelma’s Fleet of CPT rigs completed ground investigations for three onshore Wind Farm developments. The sites were on the Moors of County Durham, the North York Moors at Rusholme and at Bicker Fen in East Anglia. The CPTs were specified to define soil stratigraphy and to provide geotechnical parameters for turbine foundation design.
 
The Durham and Rusholme sites required piezocone penetration tests at 28 turbine locations in tenacious Glacial Tills to 25m depth and at 12 turbine locations to 20 m depth at Bicker Fen. At each site the required penetration test depths were achieved.
