Network Rail re-signalling Lankelma worked with Network Rail for part of the Cardiff area signal renewal works.
UXO testing at Farringdon Station Lankelma undertook 72 combined magcone tests in 4 shifts of 12hrs. With UXO data being assessed on site, the piling crews could start work without delay.
10mph at Medge Hall Site works in the 4-foot were undertaken using UK12 - the rail truck, whilst UK15 undertook testing in the soft fields adjacent, using UK15 - the track truck.
Embankment nr Diss 6m high and constructed on a peat bog - these underlying soil conditions were causing subsidence. The ground investigation consisted of piezocone tests, MOSTAP sampling and the installation of 8 vibrating wire piezometers.
Railway bridge on the CTRL An interesting challenge, there was no access in or out and the site was full of piles that could not be touched!
Rolsvoy bridge in Norway The installation of vibrating wire piezometers to continually give readings of the stresses on the piers before, during and after rail freight crosses the bridge. CPTs to provide information on soil conditions below the piers.
Embankment ground investigation, Charing, Kent The first purpose was to actually look at the material of the subsiding embankment along its whole stretch. The second purpose of the investigation was to carry out some work for a Network Rail research project.
Horizontal testing in the London Underground CPTs were not required to be taken vertically down as usual but at a nearly horizontal incline through the sidewall of an underground tunnel. This was an interesting challenge that finally led to the development of UK10.
Emergency SI.. UK14's 6m reach enabled tests to be carried out from one track. This proved to be extremely useful as there were a number of other activities being carried out at the same time.
Platform 5, Victoria Station Angled testing for soil conditions under a concrete column, performed over a trial pit.
