Hanford Nuclear Facility
We mobilized our 30 ton CPT rig equipped with the unique EAPS (enhanced access penetration system) from our Houston office to the Hanford Nuclear Facility in eastern Washington state in late May. Well installation The project consisted of two scopes of work, the first being the installation of five permanent 3 inch diameter instrument wells to a depth of 70 feet below ground surface. Soil moisture/resistivity testing The second phase included in-situ air permeability testing along with temperature, soil moisture content and resistivity testing coupled with typical CPT parameters including tip, sleeve and dynamic pore pressure readings. This study will provide key insight into subsurface conditions at the area in question and assist the U.S. Dept of Energy in determining an effective remediation effort.
