Lightweight mobile unit

This lightweight mobile unit is suitable for restricted access site investigations.  It is hand portable and runs off electricity provided by its own power pack.  Reaction force is gained by anchoring the unit to the ground or tunnel wall which provides a pushing capacity of 10 tonnes.

Rail applications
   

UK10 was especially designed for use within rail tunnels.  It was designed in conjunction with Tube Lines to work on their tunnel assessment projects (see project).  It is half the size and weight of a standard set of CPT rams.  This allows it to be carried by 2 people to locations.

 

This low weight also allows the rig to be mounted in any orientation as long it can gain a reaction force. Tests have been carried out horizontally.

 

The rig has been used on sites across London Underground and also in a twin track rail tunnel in London.
